South Node of the Moon (Ketu)
The South Node of the Moon is the dragon’s tail. In brief, in ancient mythology a dragon wanted to be immortal like the gods, so it disguised itself as a beautiful woman and drank from the juice of immortality. When the gods found out, they cut it half, to the head and the tail. The head is the North Node (Rahu).
The tail of the dragon is without a head, it moves without consciousness and therefore without control. The tail of the dragon has no clue what it is doing there.
Wherever South Node -Ketu- is located it empties that particular house. Without control.
For those who believe in incarnation: The South Node shows the previous lifetimes of the person. And it shows what the person has already mastered and achieved. It is a familiar territory for it.
South Node in the 2nd house shows that the person has already mastered building wealth in previous lifetimes and achieved their goals in regard to wealth, finances, and possessions.
Therefore, in this lifetime the person is disinterested in making money or collecting anything. This lifetime they are on the path to embrace the North Node, which is for them in the 8th house. So, they are here to have access to and enjoy other people’s finances and resources.
They have already learned to build wealth, to earn bread on the table, to pay the bills. Now they need to embrace and fulfill their North Node’s desire, which is 8th house domains.
South Node matures at the age of 48 after it becomes easier to handle.
Ketu’s influence in the 2nd house is similar to Neptune’s effect there. A spiritual planet in a material house.
Values
The person has spiritual values. They don’t value anything material, or it doesn’t mean much to them. Ketu brings disinterest and separation.
So this lifetime these people aren’t interested in building wealth, to having collections or assets. They are here to have access, use, and enjoy other people’s possessions, wealth, and finances.
How to make money with South Node in the 2nd house
Firstly, the best attitude to wherever Ketu is to let go and let God.
If they have a desire to build their own wealth, they should shift their focus to some other goals and purposes so they can make money.
If they have different purposes and goals besides making money, they can make money. And they can build wealth, however, they should be always detached from that.
Better to work something in order to help others, to be of service, and money will come once money is not on their minds.
Again, these people intuitively know how to make money, and how to build wealth because they have done it in previous lifetimes and do it from an early age this lifetime.
How one spends their money with South Node in the 2nd house
Probably this is the difficult part of having Ketu in the 2nd house.
The reason is the dragon’s tail empties the house. So the person spends without control or has no clue where the money went.
They don’t have a desire or interest in keeping their money or possessions.
Self-worth with Ketu in the 2nd house
Besides the 2nd house being the primary money house, its other main domain is self-worth. That is the psychological side of this house.
This is another difficult position because Ketu makes their self-worth really low. So, they are prone to undervalue and underestimate themselves.
Having a spiritual approach towards self-worth too might be beneficial for them.
South Node in 2nd house and marriage
The 2nd house shows the 2nd marriage, spouse, or 2nd partner. The reason is the 2nd house is the 8th house- death and rebirth- from the 7th house- the primary marriage house.
As the South Node shows the previous lifetimes, with the 2nd spouse or partner the person has a past life connection. When they meet for the first time it doesn’t feel like the first time around, and the other person feels familiar.
Or the second spouse or partner is a lost soul, this lifetime just wandering without direction.
The negative side of having a South Node in the 2nd house is that it can indicate that the 2nd spouse or partner has mental disorders. One should be very careful and be aware of that possibility.
Also, South Node can make the person disinterested in having a second spouse, or it can also lead to separation from the 2nd spouse.
If the South Node is located in the 2nd house, the North Node is in the 8th house 180 degrees away.
Please note that I use the Whole Sign House Calculation System for natal chart reading, the most ancient one, and not Placidus.
