According to my professional experience as an astrologer and observing the lives of those around me, it’s safe to say that the No. 1 desire, regardless of religious background, age, gender, nationality, social status, etc., 99% of the time is having a loving and emotionally fulfilling romantic relationship.
Romantic relationship as the No. 1 desire
On the one hand, without a romantic relationship, there is no continuity of life… well, we are in the 3rd millennium, so this statement is not entirely true anymore. But, on the other hand, I think we are in an era when the continuity of life depends more on finances. So, let’s get closer to the truth.
The gazillions of spiritual books, articles, and lectures educate us that real happiness comes from within and doesn’t depend on outer circumstances such as romantic relationships, possessions, career achievements, etc.
As social beings, it is a basic need not to be alone. Though, nowadays, we have easy access to belong to different groups and communities.
Still, our most nurtured dream and goal is to find a significant other.
I was often wondering why people look for Mr or Ms. Right desperately. I was eager to find a more profound, more spiritual, and less material answer.
Why a romantic relationship is the No. 1 desire?
I found a relatively logical answer. According to Judaism, humans (more specifically Adam and later Eve) were created on the first day of the month of Libra. (That is the first day of the Jewish New Year.) Libra’s primary domain is a one-on-one relationship, more specifically, a romantic partnership. (If you know a Libra, you know that their oxygen is relationship and their kryptonite is not being in a relationship.)
And deep down in our souls, we are all Libras a little bit. That burning desire to have someone to share our lives with is rooted in the history of creating humankind.
What do you think? Does it make sense to you?
My personal take on it
Astrology-wise, the 7th house- that rules committed relationships or marriage- is on the same axis as the Ascendant- the self, the person, the path of life. And the other axis, the IC and MC, talk about the home, fountains-IC- and career and achievements- MC. These four subjects of life are on the backbone of the astrological chart. Are these the most important topics of life? And these four give the structure for our lives and the rest are the dynamic parts. Are the finances, health, or friends only the dynamic parts?
Off-topic. Honestly, it is very sad to see people putting so much effort into finding a good partner without results for many years and wasting their time. They could just live their lives instead. They could be with friends, have hobbies, achieve more, learn skills, etc. They could have a much better life if they do would be busy building their own life, and enjoying what they already have.
I have never seen a person who was desperately looking for a partner, find a good partner. Only found partners or got into situations that they really regretted later. However, I also saw many people who found a really good partner, when they had such a good life that everyone wanted to be part of it. When it was clear that that person is fun to be around, has an interesting life, an easy personality, has a zest for life, etc. Maybe, that is the recipe for finding a good partner. By not looking for one, but becoming one?!
What do you think which person is more attractive, the one who is desperately looking for a partner? Or the person who is okay with being alone, finds meaning in everyday life, feels fulfilled, has not much reason to complain, and has a lot of joy to share, who has a lot to offer?
Final Thoughts
Since it is the most natural human desire, eventually, we have to experience it. But I believe that most of our relationships’ only –spiritual- purpose is to be the catalyst of personal changes and growth… But this is an entirely different matter.
I wish all of you to have a stable, emotionally fulfilling, and joyful romantic relationship. And one day you have the eureka moment, that happiness was always inside of you, no matter what.
