North Node in 1st House | Materialistic, Opportunistic, Go-getter, Looks Exotic
People with North Node in the 1st house have a fairly exciting life, so their personality is. They grab every opportunity to achieve their goals. The only thing they should keep in mind is to always choose the ethical and moral way.
If the North Node is located in the first house, the South Node is in the 7th house, 180 degrees away.
North Node in the 1st house and personality
Rahu aka the North Node in the natal chart shows what the person has to develop, experience, and focus on this lifetime. That is the personal true north.
If it is located in the 1st house, the person should focus on 1st house matters. On themselves, on their identity, their life, appearance, vitality, etc.
The reason is that in past lifetimes they have developed and mastered one on one relationships, were in co-dependent relationships, or even in the shadow of someone. (7th house matters.) During this lifetime they are inexperienced so to speak about the first house topics.
How does the North Node influence the personality if it is located in the first house aka on the Ascendant?
These people are hungry and ravenous for life. They are quite materialistic and want to experience anything life could offer. They might have an obsession with life, with experiences. And they are willing to grab every opportunity that comes their way. However, they have a tendency to do it in a not-so-ethical or lawful way.
In ancient mythology, the dragon wanted to drink from the juice of immortality to be like the gods and to have the same privileges. So it disguised itself as a beautiful blonde woman to trick the gods and drink from that juice. So it did, but the gods noticed it and cut it in half, so it became the head of the dragon- north node- and the tail of the dragon- south node.
And people who have the North node(Rahu in Vedic astrology) are willing to do the same to have privileges to being a social circle they don’t belong. Without working for it, without earning it, and doing it in an unethical or even unlawful way.
For these people it is tempting to trick others, to betray others, to lie, to cut corners, to cheat the system, and to show different personalities in different situations.
And the dragon’s head- the North node- is just a head without a body. So it grabs whatever it wants, “eats” and never gets satisfied because it has no body. It just wants more and more. Though in Western Society being ambitious and ravenous for more materials is considered a quite good character trait. And the motto of the North node, ” the end results justify the means”.

North Node in 1st house and appearance
Most often it darkens the features of the person or makes the person look exotic. To look somehow different than their family. North Node is foreign energy, a foreign influence. So these people might look foreign in their own country/tribe.
As the Ascendant talks about appearance, these people take good care of their looks and body. They might alter their look to fit into a different ethnicity or social class. As North Node is obsessed energy, they might be obsessed with their look and appearance. Again, that too is considered positive in Western Culture.
In general, these people are magnetic, either their look attractive or they have a magnetic personality.
Remember, the dragon disguised itself to achieve its goal, to drink from the juice of immortality. So these people can look or behave in a way that pleases others, or want others to see them.

North Node in 1st house and mission in life | What to develop this incarnation?
People with North Node on the Ascendant are on the path to developing their own identity, to develop themselves. To develop their own authentic personality. The main purpose of their incarnation this lifetime isn’t to be married and be in a codependent relationship, however, they can marry or be in a romantic relationship. They are here to develop their own identity, to be independent, to be their authentic self, then the partner can appear.
First, they need to build, their own life. As the South Node is in the 7th house, and the South Node is the “been there, done that” energy, all the 7th house matters brings them dissatisfaction and disinterest. Now the focus is on themselves. In the past, they have mastered relationships and were dependent on others.
And as long as they don’t develop their own true authentic identity and build their own life, the relationships are a source of disappointments, separations, and even disinterest. Later in life, after 40 the 7th house topics get better as well. Though, one must be careful when getting married, which can indicate a spouse with mental issues. The better manifestation is to have a spouse with a spiritual mind, or past life connection with the spouse.
And this is the reason they might appear selfish and self-absorbed. That is the path of their life, to be busy with themselves.
In a similar way, people with Rahu in the 1st house want social status or belong to a social class they weren’t born to. But they aren’t willing to do it in a Saturnian and Capricornian way, step by step. They dare to cut corners, cheat the system, or betray others to get there.
